Two young men — identified as 17-year-old Boaz Flemister and Lazarus, known to friends as “Hollywood” — have died following a devastating crash involving an SUV on the Bishop Ford Expressway, according to authorities and community members. Both victims were reportedly members of Chicago’s Empire Dance Team.

The crash occurred overnight and left the vehicle heavily damaged, with emergency crews rushing multiple victims to area hospitals. Officials confirmed that several other occupants sustained critical injuries and remain in serious condition as of Saturday morning.
In the hours after the tragedy, fellow dancers, friends, and family members gathered near the crash site to mourn, leaving flowers and embracing one another. Witnesses described an emotional scene as teammates struggled to process the sudden loss of two young performers known for their energy and dedication.

Illinois State Police say the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not yet indicated whether speed, impairment, or another vehicle played a role, and no additional details about the sequence of events have been released.
Community leaders and supporters of the dance team have begun organizing vigils and fundraising efforts to assist the families of the victims and those still hospitalized.
