Police are continuing to investigate a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a young woman in Calera on February 12, 2026. Officers responding to a report of gunfire on The Heights Drive discovered 23-year-old Jennifer Talley suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities quickly developed a suspect and located 22-year-old Noah Hendricks in nearby Clanton, where he was taken into custody without incident. Hendricks has been charged with murder and booked into the Shelby County Jail pending further court proceedings.
According to Calera Police Chief David Hyche, the shooting stemmed from a domestic relationship between the suspect and the victim. Officials noted that incidents involving intimate partners account for a significant portion of violent crimes handled by the department.
Chief Hyche emphasized that resources are available for those experiencing domestic abuse, highlighting the department’s Victim Services Coordinator, who can assist individuals in finding safety planning, shelter, counseling, and legal support. He urged anyone in a dangerous situation to seek help by contacting the department directly.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and determining the precise circumstances that led to the deadly confrontation.
