With profound sorrow, we remember and honor the life of Ashley Flynn, a 37-year-old woman from Tipp City, whose life was tragically taken in the early morning hours of Monday in what authorities have described as a burglary that escalated fatally.
Officers with the Tipp City Police Department responded at approximately 2:31 a.m. to a residence in the 900 block of Cunningham Court following reports of a burglary in progress and a resident shot inside the home. When officers arrived, they discovered Ashley suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency response efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ashley’s husband and two young children were inside the home at the time of the incident. They were safely contacted by officers and later supported by arriving family members during an unimaginably devastating moment. The Miami County Victim Witness Program provided assistance to the grieving family as law enforcement began their investigation.
Police reported signs of forced entry and described the incident as a burglary that turned tragic. Officers immediately secured the area, established a perimeter, and conducted an extensive search using canines and a drone. As of now, no suspects have been located. The investigation remains active and ongoing, with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation leading efforts to determine what happened and who is responsible.
While authorities continue their work, today we pause to focus not on the violence that ended Ashley’s life but on the life she lived and the love she gave so freely.
