ATLANTA — A dentist has been arrested and charged after a deadly shooting at a former office in Atlanta on Saturday.
The Atlanta Police Department responded to 3412 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW just after 3:00 p.m. after receiving a call that a person had been shot.
When they arrived, they found a 37-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound, who was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Officers have detained a 73-year-old dentist as they investigate the cause of the shooting.

Lt. Christopher Butler with the Atlanta Police Department told 11Alive that the dentist, later identified as David Mays, reported finding someone inside the business after first seeing the victim on the property on surveillance footage. Mays claimed that there was an exchange of gunfire.
Atlanta Police confirmed the victim, who police say is homeless, did not have a weapon.
Lt. Butler said the victim is known to officers in the area.
Homicide investigators obtained arrest warrants for Mays. He is charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He has been booked into the Fulton County Jail.
