The Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg community is reeling after a father and his two children were found dead in what police are describing as a significant criminal incident that occurred overnight between February 10 and 11, 2026.
The Kitigan Zibi Police Service reported receiving a call at 2:04 a.m. on February 11, prompting officers to attend a residence on Kichi Mikan Street. Inside the home, police located Randy Tolley Randolph, 41, deceased. His two children—a 12-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl—were found suffering from life-threatening injuries. They were transported to the hospital but later succumbed to their injuries.
Authorities have confirmed that three members of the community have died. Preliminary information indicates that a firearm was involved.
Extensive Investigation in Progress
The matter is being treated as a major case, with investigators specializing in crimes against persons leading the inquiry. The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is assisting local police, as is customary in serious incidents of this scale.
A secure perimeter has been established around the residence while forensic specialists process the scene. Investigators are gathering evidence and working to piece together a detailed timeline of events. Officials say clarifying the circumstances surrounding the deaths remains a central focus.
In a brief statement, the Kitigan Zibi Police Service advised that all media inquiries be directed to SQ Quebec Media Relations, noting that provincial assistance is standard in major investigations. The service also asked the public to keep the community in their thoughts during this difficult time.
A Community Mourning
The loss has sent shockwaves through the tight-knit community. Residents have shared messages of sympathy and support for the extended family, while also acknowledging the emotional toll on first responders and community members alike.
As the investigation continues, authorities have indicated that additional information will be released when appropriate.
