Born August 3, 1978, in Columbus, Ohio, Matt grew up with an easy smile, a generous spirit, and an innate ability to connect with others. He graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School before earning a degree in Communications from Ohio State University, where he was known for his leadership, curiosity, and warmth.
Matt built a successful career in broadcast journalism, where his voice and integrity made him a trusted presence in newsrooms and living rooms alike. His passion for storytelling was anchored in a deep belief that journalism could make communities stronger, more informed, and more compassionate. Over two decades, Matt covered stories that mattered — from local heroes and community triumphs to the urgent issues shaping daily life.
Beyond his professional achievements, Matt was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Hannah Miller, and their two children, Jacob and Ella, who were the center of his world. Matt took immense pride in being present for every milestone — school plays, soccer games, dance recitals, and quiet evenings at home filled with laughter and stories.
Friends remember Matt as someone who offered kindness without hesitation and support without limit. His generosity extended far beyond family and friends; he was a mentor to young journalists, a volunteer in community literacy programs, and an advocate for mental health awareness. His thoughtful guidance and unwavering encouragement enriched the lives of many.

Survivors include his wife, Hannah Miller; his children, Jacob and Ella; his parents, Robert and Diane Miller; his siblings, Laura (James) Harper and Ryan (Sarah) Miller; and many extended family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 4–7 p.m. at Maple Grove Funeral Home in Columbus, followed by a funeral service Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Journalists for Mental Health Awareness, a cause close to Matt’s heart, honoring the value he placed on community well‑being and authentic connection.
