Police Issue Shelter-in-Place Order

The Tumbler Ridge RCMP issued a public alert for Tumbler Ridge and surrounding areas, instructing residents to stay inside, shelter in place, lock doors, and refrain from leaving homes or businesses until further notice. Members of the public are also being urged to avoid the area and follow all police directions.

Police described the suspect as a female wearing a dress with brown hair. Authorities emphasized that the individual should not be approached. Anyone who sees suspicious activity is asked to call 911 immediately.

Schools on Lockdown

Tumbler Ridge Elementary School confirmed that both TRE and TRSS are under lockdown and secure-and-hold protocols, a precautionary measure used to protect students and staff while police manage an external threat.

School officials and the district have asked parents and community members not to attend the schools unless explicitly directed by authorities, stressing that unnecessary movement could interfere with emergency operations.

Ongoing Situation

Law enforcement remains actively investigating the incident. No additional details have been released regarding injuries or arrests as of this time.

District officials urged patience and cooperation from the public as the situation unfolds, stating that student and staff safety is the top priority. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available from police.

Residents are reminded to remain alert, shelter in place, and report any information that could assist authorities.
