Dennis Lawson, 28, and Anthony Bauer, 23, were charged with two counts of attempted murder and possession of weapons in a correctional facility for a Jan. 21, 2026 attack at the Fort Madison prison.
Court records say the pair launched a coordinated assault, using homemade shanks to stab an officer who was handing out schoolwork, targeting the neck, throat, head, and torso.
A second officer intervened and was also stabbed.
Both officers were hospitalized and later released.
