CHICAGO, Ill. — A 25-year-old man was shot and killed early this morning near Cicero Avenue and Lake Street, in a shooting that unfolded just after 8:37 a.m., according to preliminary information.
Witnesses report the victim had just exited an Uber when gunfire erupted. He was struck multiple times in the neck and back and collapsed at the scene. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but he was pronounced deceased shortly afterward.
Police secured the intersection and canvassed the area for evidence, including shell casings and potential surveillance footage from nearby businesses and traffic cameras. Investigators are working to determine whether the victim was targeted or if the shooting followed an earlier confrontation. No suspect information has been released at this time.
The killing has left commuters and residents shaken, as the shooting occurred during busy morning hours. Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, saw suspicious activity, or has dashcam or doorbell video from the area to come forward.
