The Detroit community, and particularly the DJFL family, is in mourning following the heartbreaking passing of 9-year-old Jayce Larkin. Jayce was more than just a name; he was a vibrant spirit, a cherished teammate, and a promising young athlete whose absence leaves a profound void.
Jayce was a beloved member of our 9U Hawks, where his infectious energy and unwavering dedication shone brightly. He was an incredible young man, known for his positive attitude and his ability to uplift those around him. As a freshman football player with the Melvindale Cardinals, Jayce demonstrated a passion for the game and a natural talent that promised a bright future.
Beyond the football field, Jayce was also an outstanding baseball player for Lincoln Park Little League. His skill and sportsmanship were evident in every game. Jayce’s passing is a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the preciousness of the young lives within our community. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Jayce Larkin will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew him.
