A 10-year-old girl named Sophia died after being shot Saturday in Mishawaka, according to police.
Officers responded to reports of a child shot in the 300 block of Taylor Street, where they found the girl suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released additional identifying information.
Authorities stated there is no further threat to the community related to this incident. An autopsy for the 10-year-old girl has been scheduled for Sunday.
