In another devastating loss, Shawna Collins, 53, was among six people who died when a private plane crashed at Bangor International Airport in Maine on January 25, 2026. The jet — a Bombardier Challenger 600 had stopped in Bangor while en route from Houston to France and crashed during takeoff amid winter weather conditions, killing everyone on board.
Authorities later confirmed the identities of all six victims. Alongside Shawna Collins, the other people who lost their lives included Nick Mastrascusa, Tara Arnold, Shelby Kuyawa, Jacob Hosmer, and Jorden Reidel.
Shawna Collins was well known as an event planner and had served as a long‑time staff member at Lakewood Church in Houston. The church community described her as a beloved colleague and friend whose warmth and positive energy left a lasting impression on those around her. In a statement, Lakewood Church said Collins was “a light that brightened our days,” reflecting her generous spirit and impact at the ministry.
Friends remember her as more than a professional; she was a cherished mother, grandmother, and planner whose life was filled with care for others. She was reportedly involved in planning family celebrations and business events and was excited about future travel and work opportunities before the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
