According to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. to a residential fire at 4327 20th Street SW after reports of a home fully engulfed in flames. When first responders arrived, the structure was already heavily involved, making immediate entry impossible due to the intensity of the fire.

Fire crews from Huguley, Lanett, and East Alabama worked urgently through the night to bring the flames under control, battling intense heat and heavy smoke as they fought to prevent further spread in the neighborhood.

After the fire was extinguished, authorities confirmed the tragic discovery of two victims inside the residence. The individuals were later identified as Donald Ray Gough, 55, and Angela Jean Gough, 46.

Their deaths have left loved ones in shock, as what began as a quiet Monday evening ended in a heartbreaking loss that unfolded behind closed doors and flames.
