A heartbreaking act of violence has left a family and community grieving after 18-year-old Valentín Morales lost his life on Sunday evening, April 26, 2026, in a shooting incident in Yuma.
According to the Yuma Police Department, officers responded at approximately 7:48 p.m. to reports of “shots fired” in the 500 block of S. 15th Avenue. When they arrived, they found Valentín unresponsive on the ground and immediately began life-saving efforts at the scene.
Investigators say a white four-door sedan pulled into the area, fired multiple rounds, and then fled southbound on 15th Avenue. One of those rounds struck Valentín Morales. He was transported to Onvida Health, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses reported seeing at least three male suspects in the vehicle, described as Black or Hispanic. The case remains under active investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Valentín had just celebrated his 18th birthday the month before his death, stepping into adulthood with hopes, dreams, and a future that now remains painfully unfinished. His sudden passing has left his loved ones in shock, struggling to accept a loss that came without warning.
