Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon in the town of Capitol Heights. The victim has been identified as Ky-Mari Bowman, 19, of Waldorf.
According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, officers responded to the 500 block of Abel Avenue at approximately 3:20 p.m. on February 4, 2026, after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located Bowman outside suffering from gunshot wound(s). He was transported to a local hospital but died a short time later.
Investigators are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect or suspects. Preliminary reports indicate that detectives do not believe this was a random crime.
