Jeffrey Lane Tait, age 42, passed away on March 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by devotion to family, faith, and community. A cherished husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Jeff’s passing is a profound loss to all who knew him.
Born on August 31, 1983, in Orem, Utah, to Greg and Irene Tait, Jeff was raised in South Jordan, where he developed strong values through youth sports and his involvement in the Boy Scouts of America. Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout was a milestone he carried with pride throughout his life, embodying the principle of serving others daily.
Jeff attended Bingham High School, where he stood out both academically and athletically, particularly in football. Following graduation, he served a mission in Londrina, Brazil, an experience that deeply shaped his faith and perspective. He later earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah, though he remained a loyal supporter of BYU.
Professionally, Jeff built a career grounded in relationships, trust, and integrity. He worked with organizations including The Grand America, Frito Lay, and Eckles Paving before establishing his own custom home-building business. Through his company, he created not just homes but lasting partnerships, fostering a strong sense of loyalty and camaraderie among his team and collaborators. His leadership extended to his service on the board of the Utah Valley Home Builders Association.
Outside of work, Jeff found joy in the outdoors—hunting, fishing, and boating with his family. He especially loved road trips with his wife, often with music playing and their children’s activities as the destination. Supporting his children in their passions brought him immense happiness, and he was deeply invested in their lives.
Known for his distinctive style and approachable personality, Jeff left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Beyond his outward charm, he was admired for his kindness, calm presence, and genuine care for others. He was a natural leader who uplifted those around him and made people feel valued.
A devoted member of his church, Jeff served faithfully in numerous roles, including within the Young Men’s program, bishopric, and stake leadership. His life reflected a deep commitment to service, compassion, and faith.
On August 9, 2005, Jeff was sealed to his wife, Lacey Brown, in the Salt Lake Temple. Their marriage was a true partnership built on love, shared values, and unwavering support for one another.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Lacey Tait, and their four children: Nahla, Channing, Smith, and Wesson. He is also survived by his parents, Greg and Irene Tait; his siblings Kerry Tait (Stacy), Jody Tait (Brittany), and Kylene May (Greg); and his extended family, including his in-laws Scott and Susan Brown and their children. He was deeply loved by his nieces and nephews.
His passing leaves a significant void, but his influence endures through the lives he touched. Jeff will be remembered for his generosity, warmth, and the way he brought people together.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to a GoFundMe established to support Lacey and their children.
