FATAL DISPUTE | Restaurant Owner Charged with Murder After Deadly Altercation in Glen Burnie

A confrontation at a Glen Burnie restaurant turned deadly Saturday, leading to murder charges against a man who identified himself as the business owner, according to charging documents.
Police say 32-year-old Ioannis Giorgakis contacted Anne Arundel County Police twice earlier in the day, reporting issues involving a 27-year-old man accused of causing a disturbance at the establishment. Hours later, officers were dispatched again—this time for a reported shooting at Hilltop Carry-Out Pizza & Subs along Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard.
When authorities arrived, they found the 27-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency response efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators allege the situation escalated from a verbal altercation into violence, culminating in the fatal shooting. Details about what specifically triggered the gunfire remain under investigation, but officials say prior calls to police may play a key role in establishing the sequence of events.
Giorgakis was taken into custody and charged with first- and second-degree murder, as well as use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime. He is currently being held pending further court proceedings.
His attorney, Martin Cohen, has not yet publicly commented on the case. Meanwhile, law enforcement officials continue to gather evidence, including witness statements and surveillance footage, as they work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
