The fatal collision occurred Tuesday night along Augusta Road at Harris Road, when Morris was struck by a transfer truck shortly after 10:40 p.m. on April 28, 2026, according to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. Despite the rapid response of emergency crews, he was pronounced deceased at the scene just minutes later, at approximately 10:48 p.m.

What unfolded in those final moments has left a lasting weight on everyone connected to the tragedy. A quiet roadway became the site of flashing lights, emergency response, and a silence that followed a life suddenly and painfully cut short.

Authorities confirmed that Morris died from blunt force trauma, and his passing has been ruled accidental following an autopsy. The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Greenville County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Beyond the investigation, Easley now holds onto the memory of a man who meant something to those who knew him. Wade Hampton Morris III is being remembered not for the tragedy of his final moments, but for the life he lived — a life filled with presence, connection, and meaning to family and friends.

As Easley comes together in grief, there is also remembrance — of a life that mattered, and a person who will not be forgotten.

May Wade Hampton Morris III rest in peace, and may his loved ones find strength, comfort, and healing in the days ahead.
