The Greenfield, Ohio community is mourning the tragic loss of Thomas Ira Boles Jr., 50, who passed away following a workplace incident at the Candle-Lite plant in Leesburg on Thursday.
Authorities confirmed that emergency crews responded to a serious incident at the Highland County facility after reports of an emergency on site. Despite rapid response efforts, Boles tragically lost his life as a result of the incident.
News of his passing has left family, friends, and coworkers in deep sorrow as they struggle to come to terms with the sudden loss. Those who knew him are remembering him as a dedicated worker and valued member of the community whose presence will be deeply missed.
Luminex President Michael Callahan described the incident as a “serious event” that resulted in the loss of a team member. He confirmed that emergency responders arrived immediately and that the company is fully cooperating with OSHA and other authorities as the investigation continues.
“Our focus remains on supporting our employees and extending our deepest condolences to the individual’s family during this difficult time,” Callahan said. He added that, out of respect for the family and the ongoing investigation, further details will not be released at this time.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has launched an investigation into the incident and will have up to six months to complete its review. During this time, officials say additional information is unlikely to be made public.
