The community of Crimora, Virginia, is left deeply saddened and shaken following a tragic early-morning shooting that claimed the life of Tony Edward Dooms, 59, in Augusta County, Virginia.
Authorities with the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office say deputies responded around 1:08 a.m. to a distressing 911 call on Crimora Station Lane reporting a shooting. When first responders arrived, they found Dooms suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say the incident stemmed from a family dispute that escalated into violence, resulting in Dooms being shot while inside his vehicle. Officials described the situation as a deeply tragic and isolated event that unfolded between family members.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that the individual involved was detained, questioned, and later released as the investigation continues. Authorities are still working to fully understand the circumstances that led to the fatal encounter.
