The Arab community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of O’Neal Kelley, 84, and Martha Kelley, 79, who were killed in a devastating two-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Cullman County.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the crash occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. on April 12 along Alabama 91 near Cullman County 649, about six miles east of Holly Pond. Authorities said the couple was traveling in a 2017 Nissan Rogue when their vehicle was struck by a 2011 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by 33-year-old Aaron C. Mitchell of Hanceville.
O’Neal Kelley was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, Martha Kelley, sustained critical injuries and was transported to Cullman Regional Medical Center, where she later passed away.
Their sudden and tragic deaths have left family, friends, and the Arab community in deep grief. Loved ones are now mourning not only the loss of two individuals but also the loss of a couple who shared a lifetime together and were taken in the same heartbreaking moment.
Those who knew O’Neal and Martha are remembering them for the life they built, the love they shared, and the presence they brought to those around them. Their absence has left an emptiness that is deeply felt throughout the community as people struggle to come to terms with the tragedy.
As troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue their investigation, the focus for many remains on honoring the lives lost rather than the circumstances of the crash.
In the midst of sorrow, family and friends are holding onto memories that bring comfort and strength during this difficult time. The bond O’Neal and Martha shared is now being remembered as a lasting symbol of love and devotion.
May O’Neal and Martha Kelley rest in peace, and may their loved ones find healing and support in the days ahead.
