A heartbreaking tragedy has left family, friends, and the Oklahoma City community mourning the loss of Keyonna Carter, who was one of two people found deceased inside a submerged vehicle at Lake Overholser.
The devastating incident occurred around 4:50 a.m. when a white mini-SUV reportedly sped along Overholser Drive before losing control and crashing into the lake. Witnesses at the scene described the vehicle as traveling at an extremely high rate of speed, saying it appeared reckless in the moments before it went into the water.
Those nearby rushed toward the shoreline, hoping someone might escape. Witnesses said the headlights could still be seen, and bubbles rose from the vehicle as it sank. Despite the desperate moments that followed, no one was able to reach the occupants in time.
Oklahoma City Police later confirmed that the vehicle was recovered by the fire dive team, and an adult male and an adult female were found inside, both deceased. One of the victims was identified as Keyonna Carter.
As investigators continue working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash, loved ones are left facing an unimaginable loss. Keyonna’s life was cut short far too soon, and her passing has left a painful emptiness in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
May Keyonna Carter rest in peace, and may her family and friends find comfort and strength during this difficult time.
