Authorities are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that claimed the lives of two people early Wednesday morning, March 25, 2026.
Officers with the Marana Police Department, along with personnel from the Northwest Fire District, responded at approximately 1:22 a.m. to a crash along the Interstate 10 Frontage Road between West Tangerine Road and West Avra Valley Road on the west side of Interstate 10.
Upon arrival, first responders located five individuals involved in the crash. Two victims were found unresponsive, and despite lifesaving efforts, both were pronounced dead at the scene. Officials identified one of the victims as 48-year-old Nora Saldana. The second victim was identified as a 17-year-old juvenile female. Authorities confirmed that next of kin have been notified.
According to a preliminary investigation, the crash involved a 2003 Jeep Liberty and a 2021 Honda Civic. The Jeep Liberty, occupied by one person, was traveling northwest in the correct lane. The Honda Civic, carrying four individuals, was traveling southeast but in the wrong lane. The vehicles collided head-on, causing significant damage.
Investigators reported no signs of impairment from either driver. The Marana Police Department Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
