Authorities have identified Ryan Ortiz as the motorcyclist who died following a crash Tuesday afternoon in San Jose’s Willow Glen neighborhood.
The collision occurred at approximately 1:21 p.m. on March 25, 2026, near the intersection of Blackford Lane and Meridian Avenue, according to San Jose police.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of an SUV was making a left turn from northbound Meridian Avenue onto westbound Blackford Lane when the vehicle collided with Ortiz, who was traveling southbound on a motorcycle.
Ortiz was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries but later succumbed to those injuries. His identity is expected to be formally confirmed by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators. Authorities have not announced any arrests or charges at this time.
This incident marks San Jose’s ninth fatal traffic collision of 2026, highlighting ongoing concerns about roadway safety in the area. The crash remains under investigation.
