A tragic wrong-way collision on Interstate 75 has resulted in the death of 96-year-old Arthur Gilbert, with 24-year-old Genise Taylor now facing a charge of DUI manslaughter.

According to authorities, Taylor is accused of driving in the wrong direction on the highway when her vehicle collided with Gilbert’s car. The impact proved fatal for Gilbert, a retired geologist who had reportedly just dropped his wife off at the airport shortly before the crash.

Investigators allege that Taylor had been drinking prior to the incident. In a jail phone call, she reportedly admitted that a police officer had stopped her hours earlier but released her. Officials claim she continued drinking afterward before getting back behind the wheel, ultimately leading to the deadly crash.

Law enforcement agencies are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding both the earlier traffic stop and the fatal collision. The case has raised concerns about impaired driving and enforcement decisions, as the investigation moves forward.
