Union City, NJ – A deadly shooting early Monday morning has left the community reeling as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police and emergency personnel responded shortly after 1:50 a.m. to reports of an altercation and gunfire near Bergenline Avenue and 44th Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 42-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, later identified as David Pulgarin of North Bergen, was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Pulgarin was pronounced dead shortly after 2:30 a.m.
Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello confirmed that the cause and manner of death remain pending until further results are provided by the Regional Medical Examiner. While officials have not released details about the events leading up to the shooting, witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area during the early morning hours, prompting a rapid police response.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is leading the investigation in coordination with the Union City Police Department. At this time, no arrests have been made, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
