A former physical education teacher in Rhode Island is facing criminal charges following allegations involving a former student, according to authorities.
Alisha Crins, 39, who previously worked at Ponaganset High School in Glocester, has been charged with two counts of third-degree sexual assault. The charges stem from allegations made by a former male student who was 17 at the time of the reported incidents.
Officials say Crins resigned from the Foster-Glocester Regional School District in October 2025, shortly after school administrators became aware of the student’s complaint, which was then referred to the Rhode Island State Police.
According to court records, the alleged incidents occurred between April and June 2024, while the student was still enrolled at the school. After graduating, the student filed a formal complaint in October 2025, prompting an investigation that ultimately led to a Providence County grand jury indictment on February 27, 2026.
Investigators allege the relationship began with inappropriate communication, including text messages that became increasingly personal over time. Authorities say the interactions later escalated to sharing explicit content and physical encounters outside of school grounds.
Crins reportedly acknowledged to investigators that she had sent messages and images and engaged in some physical contact, but denied more serious allegations. Prosecutors, however, allege the conduct violated the law due to the student’s age and her position of authority as a teacher.
The case has drawn attention within the school community, with some former students recalling interactions between the two that they described as unusual at the time.
Following her resignation, Crins has undergone significant personal changes, including a divorce. She is now awaiting further court proceedings as the case moves forward through the legal system.
Authorities emphasize that the charges are allegations, and Crins is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
