Man Allegedly Strangles 3-Month-Old Son.

A 23-year-old Brownsville man is behind bars after police say he choked his infant son until the baby started gasping for air in the middle of a domestic argument last week.
Diego Alfredo Longoria faces charges of injury to a child, two counts of assault by strangulation, and making a terroristic threat, according to a criminal complaint obtained by ValleyCentral. The incident happened March 12th at a home on Tulane Avenue in north Brownsville, Texas.
Police reports say the trouble started while the child’s mother was feeding their 3-month-old boy. Longoria got into an argument with her over what she described as “stupid things.” He allegedly told her he was going to scare the baby on purpose, then grabbed the infant and started thrusting him up and down aggressively, making the boy cry.
He carried the baby outside. The mother followed and tried to get her son back, but Longoria pushed her away and ordered her back inside. He allegedly warned that he’d kill her if she didn’t listen. She went back in at first, but then heard the baby’s cries turn into gasping sounds.
When she rushed outside again, she saw Longoria holding the baby in his left arm and choking him with his right hand, the complaint states. She tried to stop him and got shoved down. He supposedly threatened to kill both her and the child if she didn’t go back inside.
Once inside, Longoria allegedly beat the mother multiple times, then choked her for about 10 seconds. The baby’s grandmother showed up, took the infant to a car, and called 911. Longoria followed and banged on the car windows demanding the baby back, but she refused.
The boy has a bruise on his face and a fracture to his right collarbone, possibly from the pressure of the alleged choking. He’s recovering at Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi.
