He Went on a Date With Her. When She Cut Contact, He Stalked Her Then Killed Her.: She Ended the Relationship—He Allegedly Stalked Her Before Killing Her

On July 2, 2024 around 6:40 p.m., police responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 10000 block of Westpark Drive in Houston, Texas. Upon arrival, officers found a woman deceased.
The victim was identified as 25-year-old Tanesha Richards.
According to prosecutors, Richards went on a single date with 45-year-old Bruce Gerard in March 2023 but made it clear afterward that she did not want further contact. Despite this, Gerard allegedly became increasingly obsessive, repeatedly attempting to contact her against her wishes.
By December 2023, his behavior had escalated significantly, with Richards documenting nearly 100 missed calls and dozens of text messages. She filed a police report detailing the harassment and ultimately moved to a new residence out of fear that Gerard would locate her.
Investigators stated that Gerard later tracked her down, forced entry into her home, and shot her multiple times, killing her.
On March 20, 2026, a jury found Gerard guilty of capital murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
