With heavy hearts, we remember the life of Mason Michael Draughan, who passed away peacefully at home on March 16, 2026, at the age of 19. Born on January 2, 2007, in Canton, Mason brought love, strength, and inspiration to all who knew him.
Mason is survived by his loving parents, Chris Michael Draughan and Janice Mae Jepperson of Bushnell; his sister Madison (Braden) Fonner of Groveland, Illinois; and his brother Myles Draughan of Bushnell. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandparents, great-grandparents, extended family, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Mike Draughan, and maternal grandmother, Laura Jepperson.
A devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Mason was always ready to passionately defend his favorite team. Yet beyond his love for football, he was known most for his selflessness—always putting others before himself, no matter the circumstances.
Mason shared an extraordinary bond with his beloved dog, Zoey, whom he purchased with his own savings at just nine years old. His love for animals was unwavering, and even during his final days, his thoughts were with Zoey, longing to return home to his loyal companion. In honor of this deep connection, Mason will be remembered through the creation of a memorial dog park in Bushnell—a lasting tribute to his compassionate spirit.
Though Mason faced physical challenges and spent much of his life in a wheelchair, he embraced life fully and courageously. His strength and resilience were matched only by the unwavering love and care of his mother, who stood by his side every day, creating a life filled with meaning, joy, and unforgettable moments.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Experience Assembly of God Church, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Cremation rites will follow. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite athletic gear in tribute to Mason’s spirit.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mason Draughan Memorial Dog Park. Arrangements are entrusted to Martin-Hollis Funeral Home.
Though his time was far too short, Mason’s life was filled with love, courage, and compassion. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, in the joy he brought to others, and in the legacy of kindness he leaves behind.
