Star forward Kévin Denkey of FC Cincinnati was involved in a single-vehicle accident early Monday morning on Interstate 71 in Cincinnati, according to team officials. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. on March 16, when Denkey was driving a Lamborghini sports car on the interstate. Initial details indicate that the vehicle lost control and struck the highway barrier near the Kennedy Avenue area.
Video footage released by the Ohio Department of Transportation appears to show an orange Lamborghini swerving from the far right lane into the concrete divider. After making contact with the wall, the car bounced off and came to a stop on the shoulder of the roadway.
The footage also shows two passing motorists stopping to assist after the crash. Denkey and a passenger were able to exit the vehicle and wait safely on the roadside while authorities responded to the scene.
A spokesperson for FC Cincinnati later confirmed that Denkey was evaluated by the team’s medical staff and was fully cleared with no injuries following the incident. The passenger in the vehicle was also reported to be unharmed.
The crash was first reported by sports journalist Laurel Pfahler of Queen City Press, who shared initial details about the accident.
Authorities have not yet released additional information regarding the cause of the crash, and a formal report from local police was still pending at the time of initial reports.
Later that day, Denkey shared a post on social media expressing gratitude after the frightening incident. Posting a photo of the Lamborghini taken before the crash, he wrote, “Grateful for LIFE!”—a message reflecting relief that the accident did not result in serious harm.
Denkey has quickly become one of the key attacking players for FC Cincinnati, and fans across the club’s community expressed relief upon hearing that he and his passenger escaped the crash without injury.
