ROGERSVILLE, AL – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gregory “Greg” Wade Pinkard, 54, of Rogersville, Alabama, who passed away on March 14, 2026. Greg was a dedicated member of Hines Memorial Baptist Church and a respected law enforcement officer who served multiple agencies before retiring as Deputy State Fire Marshal. His career was marked by commitment, integrity, and a lifelong dedication to serving his community.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie Gordon Pinkard, and his devoted children: Josh Pinkard (Bailey), Maggie Hovater (Colton), Jamie Hill, and Owen Pinkard. He was a cherished grandfather to Judsen Hovater and Chandler Jo Pinkard and held a special place in the life of relative Jayce York. Greg also leaves behind his parents, Leo and Cleta Pinkard, and sisters, Rhonda Davis (Mike) and Kristy Tidwell (Gaylon), along with a host of nieces and nephews who will forever remember his warmth and guidance.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Gail Sutherland Pinkard, and his grandparents, Milton and Deltha Pinkard and Gene and Bertha Sutherland.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville, AL. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Brandon Banks, with burial at Hines Memorial Cemetery in Bear Creek, AL. Pallbearers for the service will include Terry Zills, Josh Pinkard, Owen Pinkard, Dave Pasqualotto, Hugh Plott, and Shane Whitten.
Greg Pinkard will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the love, kindness, and dedication he gave to his family and community. His legacy of service, faith, and family devotion will continue to inspire all who knew him.
