The Richmond community is heartbroken following the passing of Gabriel James Holloway, 10, who died Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Born on November 13, 2015, in North Kansas City, Gabriel was the cherished son of Timothy James and Jennifer Marie (Sykes) Holloway.
Gabriel is survived by his parents, TJ and Jennifer Holloway of Richmond; his sister, Julia Holloway; two uncles, Jeff and Chris Sykes; two aunts, Rachel (Daniel) Lacore and Crystal Holloway; paternal grandfather, Jewel Holloway; maternal grandparents, Cindy Sykes and Scott (Michelle) Sykes; maternal great-grandmother, Nancy Harms; great-uncle Phil Harms; and cousins Olivia Harms, Lisa Lacore, Alexa Lacore, and Cheyenne Lacore. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Orion and Angelina Holloway, and his paternal grandmother, Margaret Holloway.
Gabriel’s family remembers him as a bright, funny, and loving boy who brought joy to everyone around him. He had a fascination with dinosaurs, dragons, animals, and fishing, and dreamed of traveling to China and Hawaii. Compassionate and kind-hearted, Gabriel also aspired to be a missionary and animal rescuer. He loved cuddles, playing games on his tablet, reading, and laughing with a unique dolphin-like giggle that could light up a room. Though autistic and living with ADD, he embraced life at his own pace, touching everyone who knew him.
Even in his passing, Gabriel’s spirit continues to impact others—he saved three lives through organ donation, leaving a legacy of generosity and love.
