Police are investigating a shooting that left a 19-year-old woman injured inside an apartment in Northeast Philadelphia late Friday afternoon.
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, officers responded around 5:01 p.m. to the 7XXX block of Langdon Street after reports of gunfire inside a residential unit.
When officers arrived, they located a 19-year-old female suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency medical personnel quickly transported her to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital for treatment. Authorities say her condition has not yet been publicly updated.
Investigators say an adult male was taken into custody at the scene as part of the ongoing investigation. Police have not yet released the suspect’s identity or confirmed whether formal charges have been filed.
The case is currently being handled by the department’s Shooting Investigation Group, which is working to determine exactly what led up to the gunfire. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence from inside the apartment.
