On January 30, 2022, surveillance cameras captured a woman leaving a 7-Eleven on Highway 29 North in Anderson County, South Carolina, after meeting the father of one of her children in the parking lot.

According to investigators, she was expected to follow him to another location but never arrived. That was the last confirmed sighting of her.

The missing woman was identified as 29-year-old Alexis Ware.
Ware had spent the weekend visiting family before returning home earlier that day. During their final conversation, her mother said Ware mentioned feeling uneasy about strange phone calls she had been receiving and believed someone might have been following her.

On February 1, 2022, deputies located Ware’s red Honda sedan abandoned in McCormick County, South Carolina, miles away from where she was last seen. Her personal belongings were still inside the vehicle, but Ware herself was gone.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has continued investigating her disappearance for more than three years. Multiple agencies, including the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the FBI, have assisted in the investigation.
Ware’s family and community advocates have since pushed for new legislation known as the “Alexis Ware Act,” which aims to improve how missing-person cases are handled in South Carolina and allow families to request additional investigative assistance when cases remain unsolved.
Anyone with information about Ware’s disappearance is urged to contact the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers.
