The Lubbock Police Department Major Crash Unit has released new details regarding a fatal crash that occurred Friday evening at the intersection of 42nd Street and Memphis Avenue.
Police initially responded to the scene just before 6 p.m. after receiving reports of a hit-and-run crash involving injuries. However, investigators later determined that the incident involved a motorcycle crash.
Authorities have identified the motorcyclist as Timothy Bond Jr., 33, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, it is believed that Bond lost control of the motorcycle before crashing. Officials also reported that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
At this time, it remains unclear whether another vehicle may have been involved in the crash. The case continues to be investigated by the Major Crash Unit.
Officials say additional information may be released as the investigation progresses.
