Authorities have identified the victim killed in a Thursday shooting on Monticello Road near Columbia as Jordan T. Miller, 18, of Columbia.
According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded around 12:15 p.m. to the 7300 block of Monticello Road after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was transported to a local hospital, while Jordan Miller was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that the victims and the suspect knew each other and had agreed to meet at the location before the shooting occurred. Upon arrival, the suspect allegedly began firing at the victims. Authorities later identified the suspect as Anthony Boyd, 20.
At approximately 7 p.m. on Thursday, deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Task Force and Special Response Team located Boyd and took him into custody without incident. He has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Boyd was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and is awaiting a bond hearing.
