Principals and directors” spoke in support of Fall River Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Tracy Curley at last night’s School Committee meeting.
The Fall River School Committee has been pushing to remove Superintendent Dr. Tracy Curley, who was hired in June 2024 on a three-year contract. In February 2026, Vice Chair Kevin Aguiar led a 5-2 vote to discuss terminating her employment without cause, prompting a special meeting (initially delayed by weather) on March 4, 2026, to review the matter in executive session.
The move has sparked controversy, with Mayor Paul Coogan (committee chair) expressing surprise and support for Curley, while critics cite issues like poor departmental coordination and lack of strategic planning.
The Fall River Educators’ Association publicly opposes the termination, arguing it could deter future leadership recruitment and disrupt the district, amid reports that Curley may pursue legal action against the committee.
