Joseph Franklin Hiatt Obituary- Death: Joseph Franklin Hiatt, age 95, of Thomasville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026 at Hospice Home of High Point. Born on July 15, 1930 in Davidson County to Ulysses and Elizabeth Clemmons Hiatt, Joseph lived a long and meaningful life dedicated to service, family, and his community.
A proud graduate of High Point College, Joe served his country with honor in the United States Air Force before embarking on a successful 40‑year career as a life insurance salesman with the Life of Virginia Insurance Company. His commitment to professionalism and integrity defined his work and earned him respect from colleagues and clients alike.
Joe was deeply involved in his community. He was a devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church (now New Beginnings United Methodist) in Thomasville and an active participant in the Thomasville Masonic Lodge #214 as well as Shriners International. His passion for antique automobiles, camping adventures, and Bluegrass music brought joy to his life and endeared him to friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Harriett Crotts Hiatt, who passed away in August 2018, and his five brothers: Lawrence, Ralph, Marion, Johnny, and Leon Hiatt. Joe’s legacy of love and loyalty continues through his son, Mark Hiatt of Thomasville, and his granddaughter, Morgan Elizabeth Hiatt of Kennesaw, Georgia, who survive him.
A funeral service to honor Joseph Franklin Hiatt’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children in Greenville, SC.
