Nate Diprose-Stanaway Death: Warnbro Family Pays Tribute to ‘Cheeky and Adventurous’ Teen, Calls for Road Safety Changes
The Warnbro community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 13-year-old Nate Diprose-Stanaway, who tragically died after being struck by two vehicles on Warnbro Sound Avenue on Friday, February 27.
According to reports, Nate had just stepped off a bus around 8:30 a.m. and was attempting to cross Warnbro Sound Avenue in Warnbro when he was hit by two cars traveling in the southbound lanes. Despite emergency response efforts, the young teen suffered critical injuries and sadly passed away at the scene.
Speaking to 10 News First, Nate’s mother, Crystal Diprose, shared an emotional tribute to her son. She described him as a “cheeky and adventurous” boy who was always on the move and full of life. Nate was remembered as a “cherished, loved son, brother, nephew and grandson” whose kindness, humor, bright smile, and big blue eyes left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
As the family grieves their unimaginable loss, they are also making an urgent plea for improved road safety measures in the area. The stretch of Warnbro Sound Avenue where Nate was struck is currently designated as a 70km/h zone, positioned between two 40km/h school zones. His loved ones are calling for the entire section to be reduced to 40km/h during school peak hours to better protect students and pedestrians.
The tragic incident has sparked renewed concerns about traffic safety in school zones and the need for stricter speed regulations to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
The community continues to rally around Nate’s family, offering condolences and support during this deeply painful time. His memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
