The Yazoo City community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 27-year-old Michael Cole, who was tragically killed in a two-vehicle crash on March 2, 2026. The fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Grand Avenue and 7th Street, leaving family, friends, and residents in shock.
According to Rickey Shivers, authorities responded to the scene to find two heavily damaged vehicles, one of which had overturned onto its side due to the violent impact. Michael Cole was ejected from one of the vehicles during the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another victim, 23-year-old Jordan Patterson, also lost his life in the crash. One passenger was transported to Baptist Medical Center Yazoo for medical treatment, while the driver of the second vehicle was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson with serious injuries.
The crash remains under active investigation by Yazoo City police as authorities work to determine the cause of the accident.
