One man is dead and another faces a murder charge following a shooting Monday night at a Morrisville shopping center, authorities said.
Officers responded around 9:30 p.m. to the 1105 block of Market Center Drive at Park West Village, between Crumbl Cookie—Park West Village and Ruckus Pizza, Pasta & Spirits—Morrisville. When they arrived, they found 45-year-old Zachary David Horn, of Morrisville, suffering from a gunshot wound. Horn was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
John Willis Fraizer III, 55, also of Morrisville, has been charged with murder and discharging a firearm within city limits, according to court documents. An arrest warrant alleges that Fraizer discharged a . 22 caliber revolver during the incident.
Zek Silva, general manager of Ruckus Pizza, said that after the shooting, the suspect entered the restaurant. Silva said a bystander assisted him in tackling and disarming the alleged gunman. Silva then attempted to provide first aid to Horn until emergency responders arrived. Horn later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Court records indicate Fraizer previously pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon in Charlotte in 1995.
The shooting occurred less than a mile from the Camden Westwood Apartments, where firefighters were simultaneously battling a massive blaze Monday night, adding to an already chaotic evening in the area.
Police have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
Horn is survived by his three daughters.
Fraizer is identified in public records as a principal engineer at Oracle Corporation and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Authorities have not commented on whether his employment or military background had any connection to the incident.
Anyone with additional information is urged to contact local law enforcement as the investigation continues.
