The driver of the semi, Labh Singh Banger, 39, of Canada, was not injured. A passenger in the semi, Varinder Bawa, 47, was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin for treatment.
Multiple agencies responded quickly and worked diligently at the scene, including the Austin Fire Department, Blooming Prairie Police Department, Mower County Sheriff’s Office, Blooming Prairie Fire Department, Blooming Prairie Ambulance, and Mayo Ambulance. Their coordinated efforts reflected the strength and unity of the surrounding communities in times of crisis. Coverage of the tragic event was later reported by ABC 6 News as the community awaited further details.
While authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, those who knew Lukes James Ball are left grappling with an overwhelming sense of grief and disbelief.
Lukes was more than a victim of a tragic accident—he was a son, a friend, a neighbor, and a valued member of the Austin community. At just 31 years old, he had already built meaningful relationships and touched countless lives with his presence. Those closest to him describe him as kind-hearted, dependable, and genuine. He carried himself with quiet strength and compassion, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement.
He was someone who valued family and friendship deeply. Whether sharing laughter during simple gatherings, offering support during difficult times, or working hard toward his goals, Lukes lived with sincerity and purpose. His smile could light up a room, and his steady nature brought comfort to those around him.
The suddenness of his passing leaves a profound emptiness. There are no words that can truly ease the pain of losing someone so young and full of life. Dreams remain unfinished, conversations left unsaid, and moments that will now live only in memory. Yet within that sorrow lives gratitude—for the time shared, for the love given, and for the impact he made in his 31 years.
The Austin community stands united in mourning, wrapping Lukes’ family in thoughts, prayers, and unwavering support. In times like these, the bonds of community shine brightest, reminding us that no one grieves alone.
