A Fairfax County police officer fatally shot a knife-wielding man early Monday morning following a domestic-related stabbing that left one woman dead and two other adults critically injured, authorities said.
According to the Fairfax County Police Department, officers responded to the 3900 block of Persimmon Circle in the Mantua area after receiving reports of a violent incident at a residence.
When officers arrived on scene, they encountered a man armed with a knife. Police say the suspect failed to comply, and an officer discharged his firearm, striking the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Inside the home, officers discovered three additional adults — one man and two women — suffering from stab wounds. All three victims were transported to area hospitals. One of the women later succumbed to her injuries. The second woman and the male victim remain hospitalized in life-threatening condition.
In a statement posted to social media, police described the incident as a domestic-related assault. Few additional details have been released, including the identities of those involved or the relationships between the individuals.
The officer involved in the shooting has not been publicly identified. As is standard protocol in officer-involved shootings, the case will undergo a comprehensive investigation.
Authorities confirmed that both the fatal police shooting and the underlying domestic stabbing remain under active investigation. Further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
