Two people were found shot to death inside a residence Saturday night in Ferguson, including a retired fire chief whose death has sent shockwaves through the local community, authorities said.
Police responded to a call reporting gunfire at the home and discovered both victims suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Emergency personnel pronounced them dead at the scene. Officials have not yet released the name of the second victim pending notification of family members.
Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including whether the suspect was known to the victims or if the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute. Detectives spent hours processing the home for evidence and interviewing neighbors, many of whom reported hearing multiple gunshots late in the evening.
Law enforcement has not announced any arrests or publicly identified a suspect. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact police as the homicide investigation remains active.
