Authorities recovered a man’s body from Lake Michigan early this morning near the Hyde Park shoreline on Chicago’s South Side, prompting an ongoing death investigation.
Emergency crews responded after reports of a person in the water and located the body near the lakefront. Marine units assisted in pulling the individual from the water while police secured the area. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials have not yet released the victim’s identity pending notification of family members. It remains unclear how long the body had been in the water or what circumstances led to the incident. The medical examiner’s office is expected to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
Investigators say there is no immediate indication of foul play, though the case remains under review. Authorities are also working to determine whether any witnesses or surveillance footage may shed light on what occurred before the discovery.
