INVITED INSIDE. SHOT FROM BEHIND. NINE BULLETS. A LIFE ENDED.
THE MURDER OF CAMERON BALLENTINE
Shreveport, Louisiana — August 31, 2025
This case was sent to The Vivid Faces of the Vanished by the grieving and courageous mother of Cameron Ballentine, who is seeking answers and justice for her son.
Cameron Ballentine was 17 years old. Born on May 9, 2008, in Shreveport, Louisiana. A son. A friend. A teenager with plans, laughter, and a future that should still be unfolding.
According to his mother, Cameron was murdered just three doors down from their home. She says he was invited to a neighbor’s house through an Instagram direct message. Two other teenagers were inside that home that night. Neither of them was struck by gunfire.
Cameron was shot nine times in the back.
Just after midnight on August 31, 2025, officers with the Shreveport Police Department responded to a reported shooting at 3384 Bond Street. When they arrived, they found Cameron suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to Ochsner LSU Health. Doctors and nurses fought for him. They tried. But Cameron did not survive.
Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene. Witnesses told police that an unknown individual came from the rear of the residence, opened fire on Cameron, and fled on foot.
Nine bullets.
From behind.
Inside a house he had been invited into.
Who sent that message?
Who stood in that room and watched him fall?
His mother is living a nightmare no parent should ever face. She is standing in strength, speaking her son’s name, refusing to let it fade into silence. Cameron’s life was not disposable. His story does not end with unanswered questions.
