Police in Tampa have arrested a 33‑year‑old man in connection with a Monday afternoon shooting that critically injured another man, authorities said. The incident occurred just after 4 p.m. near the intersection of North 27th Street and East 97th Avenue, when officers responded to reports of gunfire in the neighborhood.
When Tampa Police arrived, they found an adult man in his late 30s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Officers provided emergency first aid before Tampa Fire Rescue transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.
Police later identified and arrested Emanuel Watson, the 33‑year‑old suspect seen fleeing the scene in an orange hoodie. Investigators say Watson and the victim were known to each other, and preliminary information suggests the shooting stemmed from a dispute that escalated during an argument.
Detectives continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses as the investigation remains active. Authorities have not yet disclosed charges but indicate attempted murder is expected given the severity of the injuries.
