ONSLOW COUNTY – The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that took place on Monday at a residence in Jacksonville, while the suspect was taken into custody in South Carolina.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026, deputies received a 911 call of a shooting at 1138 Rocky Run Road in Jacksonville. Deputies arrived on scene and located an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside the residence.
The victim was identified as Brendon Dillon, 33, as first responders immediately rendered first aid until Emergency Medical Services arrived. The victim was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
Investigators determined the suspect fled the scene prior to their arrival. The suspect was later identified as Robert Joseph Williams Jr., 37, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
A “BOLO” was quickly issued, and later Monday evening, Williams was located and arrested in North Myrtle Beach, with assistance from the Horry County Police Department and the North Myrtle Beach Police Department.
Williams is currently being extradited back to North Carolina on charges of Felony in Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon Serious Injury, and Felony Discharge of a Weapon in an Occupied Property.
Williams will have a first court appearance on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
Detectives with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No additional information is available at this time.
