Kian Sam Shooting, Death, Obituary TORONTO — A 16-year-old boy has died in hospital after he was shot inside a Tim Hortons restaurant near Lawrence Avenue East and Bellamy Road North in the Scarborough area of Toronto, police confirmed.

Toronto police said officers were called to the scene around 4:09 p.m. following reports of a shooting at the restaurant. When they arrived, they found a teenage male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.

The victim has been identified by authorities as Kian Sam, 16, of Toronto.

Investigators from the Toronto Police Service’s Homicide and Missing Persons Unit have taken over the case and are urging anyone with information, dashcam footage, or surveillance video from the area at the time of the shooting to come forward. Police have not released a description of a suspect and say the investigation is ongoing.

Officials confirmed that no other patrons or staff inside the restaurant were injured in the incident.

This marks one of the first reported homicides in the city this year, and community leaders have called for calm and cooperation as police work to piece together what led to the deadly shooting.
